Comic Book Tattoo Edit

An eleven-page story inspired by "The Waitress" appeared in the 2008 graphic novel anthology Comic Book Tattoo, a collection of short comics inspired by Amos' songs. "The Waitress" was written by Comic Book Tattoo editor Rantz Hoseley, pencilled and inked by Ming Doyle, coloured by Mark Sweeney and lettered by Kristyn Ferreti.[1] https://web.archive.org/web/20080919125003/http://cbt.comicbookresources.com/comic-blog-tattoo-–-episode-1-bitch-slapped-by-a-song/

According to Hoseley, he had prepared a list of favourite Amos songs he hoped to base a piece on, but struggled with finding "a compelling ‘hook’" for any of them. He eventually heard the live version of "The Waitress" found on To Venus and Back and, to his surprise, "saw the whole story".

Live performances Edit

"The Waitress" was first performed live during the 1994 Under the Pink Tour and has been played on many of Amos' tours since.[2] During the 1998 Plugged Tour, an extended full-band version of "The Waitress" with a brand-new bridge was introduced.[3] This rendition of the song was performed by the character Pip during the 2007 American Doll Posse World Tour.[4]

Live performances of "The Waitress" have been included on the UK "Past the Mission" single, Live from New York, To Venus and Back, and Legs & Boots.
