"Song for Eric" is a B-side from Tori Amos's 1992 debut album Little Earthquakes.

Background Edit

"Song for Eric" is one of Amos' few a cappella compositions. The song was produced by Ian Stanley, who produced several B-sides released during the Little Earthquakes era as well as album tracks "China" and "Me and a Gun".

"Song for Eric" was included on the original version of Little Earthquakes rejected by Atlantic Records in December 1990.[1] The song was eventually released as a B-side on the "Silent All These Years" UK Limited Edition single in August 1992.[2]

Remastered versions Edit

"Song for Eric" was remastered for the Little Earthquakes reissue in 1992.

Live performances Edit

The first documented live performance of "Song for Eric" took place at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland in July 3, 1991.[3] This rendition was recorded and later released on Live at Montreux in 2008. Another live performance was included on the Little Earthquakes live VHS released in October 1992.[4]

Amos has performed "Song for Eric" on several tours since, most recently in State College, Pennsylvania during the Plugged Tour on November 21, 1998.[3]
