"London Girls" is a B-side from Tori Amos' 1996 album Boys for Pele. The song was originally written and recorded by Chas & Dave.
Background[]
"London Girls" was originally written and recorded by the English band Chas & Dave and released as a single from their 1983 album Joblot. Amos' cover was released alongside "That's What I Like, Mick (The Sandwich Song)" as a 'Tribute to Chas and Dave' on "Caught a Lite Sneeze" singles in Germany and the United Kingdom.[1] The song was also released as a B-side to "Talula" in the United States.[2]
Amos covered the song as a way to win over her largely male crew, who were hesitant about working under the helm of a female producer.
Live performances[]
"London Girls" was first performed live during the 1996 Dew Drop Inn Tour and has been played on several of Amos' tours since.[3]
