In 2012, Joe Vallese of PopMatters listed "Alamo" as one of Amos' ten best non-album tracks, writing that "at once lyrically complete and structurally fragile, this track truly exists in its own, unique musical realm."[2]

"Alamo" was first performed live during the 1996 Dew Drop Inn Tour and has occasionally been played on Amos' tours since.[3] A live performance of "Alamo" was included on Legs & Boots.
